January 31 – February 1 | Honoring Medal of Honor Recipient, Major Drew Dix, on his action dates

On January 31 and February 1, 1968, Dix led a small contingent of troops in a harrowing 56-hour battle in Vietnam during the Tet Offensive . His actions resulted in the rescue of several United States and Free world civilians, an American nurse, a young Vietnamese girl and the wife and children of the local Vietnamese province chief. Dix had 14 confirmed Viet Cong killed in action and possibly 25 more, his team captured over 20 prisoners, including one of the highest-ranking Viet Cong Generals ever captured during the Vietnam War. In the end, the Viet Cong enemy force of two battalions was completely decimated and ran out of town.

For his heroism on these dates, he received our nation's highest military award, the Congressional Medal of Honor.

We are deeply honored to call Major Dix a cofounder of the Center for American Values. His legacy of courage, leadership, and service continues to guide our mission today.
