Center for American Values Pays Tribute to 80th Anniversary of D-DayTribute to 80th Anniversary of D Day

On this day 80 years ago, June 6, 1944, Allied forces from the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and others launched the largest invasion in history, known as D-Day. Over 156,000 troops stormed the beaches of Normandy, France in a unified effort to liberate Western Europe from Nazi occupation during World War II. The bravery and sacrifice of those who fought on D-Day marked a turning point in the war, leading to the eventual defeat of Nazi Germany.

Today, thanks to Rose Mary Jo Mauro of Pueblo, the Center will have on display a uniform worn by her father, Gerald M. Mauro Sr. during the D-Day invasion, along with his written account of the invasion and letters written by him during the war.

Visit the gallery to see this powerful piece of history and help us pay tribute to those brave soldiers who stormed the beaches and to those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
